So, you must be wondering what's wrong about this - 'We're friends'. As long as it is not misused, it is fine. Now, this is how it is misused.
1. He is your boyfriend and you still go around the world saying 'We are just friends !!!! '
Ya right! Well, of course it's none of anyone's business when you say that. Agreed pah. But, when the others can clearly 'see' what you guys are 'doing', the least you can do is NOT to make it a comedy piece by saying 'We are just friends'. And by the way, this applies to the opposite gender too, as in, 'She is your girlfriend and you still ... etc'.
2. You talk all cuddly-wuddly over the phone 24x7 to him and then say 'We are just friends' !
Ya ya! People around you have believed you. One fool only you are. They have already interpreted two options out of your call. One obviously is you are committed or you are seeing someone.
3. Displaying 'Public Display of Affection' and still say 'We are just friends'.
Full culprit is Facebook only. You have so many PDA kind pics in common together. She posts a status message, you like it in less than 5 minutes. He posts a pic with shades standing in front of a car, you like it. Mutual comments have the 'awwww.. muahhh' phrases. And if ever casually asked, you say - 'Heyy.. noooo..we are just friends'. Hmm.. !!!
4. Hang out with him day and night and say 'We are friends' .
You cook and eat together. Go shopping together from clothes to kitchen paper towels. You go to gym together. You study together, even if you belong to different career majors. You share bills, watch everything on you tube together. Most of the time you even sleep at your 'friends's apartment.. of course.. not together (causing heavy inconvenience to roomies). All together only. No single activity is performed single. My head and your tail if you say 'we are friends' for this and all.
My point - don't 'do' or 'make' things obviously evident and still ignorantly continue to bray the 'We are just friends' phrase. Either accept that you are not the 'friends-friends' type, or GET A ROOM and do what you are doing. Now whatever that might mean.
Cheers,
Janz!
